The P-61 Black Widow was the first radar-equipped night-fighter designed by the US. First flown in 1942, over 700 P-61's would be built before their retirement at the end of World War II. The Black Widow topped out at 366 mph and had a maximum take-off weight of 36,200 pounds. The aircraft was armed with four 20 mm cannons (lower forward fuselage), four 12.7 mm machine-guns (dorsal barbette) and could carry up to 6,400 pounds worth of bombs.
